چکیده
Purpose of review Radiologic imaging is indispensible for the diagnosis and management of many neuroophthalmologic conditions. Advances in the radioimaging of neuro-ophthalmolgic disorders may evolve from the clinical or the radiological side, meaning there is a constant stream of new information for the clinician. Recent findings Functional MRI, diffusion tensor MRI, magnetization transfer imaging, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy are examples of non-standard radiographic techniques which have expanded the knowledge of neuro-ophthalmologic conditions. Studies using conventional MRI have also led to advances in understanding optic neuropathies, the ocular motor system, pseudotumor cerebri, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome and migraine. Summary This article discusses recent radiologic advances relevant to neuro-ophthalmology.

Update on retinal prosthetic research: the Boston Retinal Implant Project.
The field of retinal prosthetic research, now more than 20 years old, has produced many high-quality technical options that have the potential to restore vision to patients with acquired disease of the outer retina. Five companies have performed Phase I clinical trials demonstrating that blind patients can reliably report basic elements of visual percepts induced by electrical stimulation. Howe...
متن کاملImprovement in Visual Fields After Treatment of Intracranial Meningioma With Bevacizumab.
High-grade (World Health Organization [WHO] Grade II and III) meningiomas constitute a minority of all meningioma cases but are associated with significant morbidity and mortality, due to more aggressive tumor behavior and a tendency to recur despite standard therapy with resection and radiotherapy. They display a higher degree of vascularity than WHO Grade I meningiomas and produce angiogenic ...

متن کاملRecent progress in understanding congenital cranial dysinnervation disorders.
BACKGROUND In 2002, the new term congenital cranial dysinnervation disorder (CCDD) was proposed as a substitute for the traditional concept of congenital fibrosis of the extraocular muscles (CFEOM) based on mounting genetic, neuropathologic, and imaging evidence, suggesting that many, if not all, of these disorders result from a primary neurologic maldevelopment rather than from a muscle abnorm...
